What people are saying about RaceTeam
''RaceTeam was by far the most organised and professional, but still fun group I have ever run with. I have been a runner all my life and have run with different groups in both Ireland and Auckland, and this one takes the cake. My speed, fitness and commitment to running has improved immensely in the last 10 weeks and I just can’t wait for the next one to start!! For anyone wanting to join a running group who are both supportive and encouraging and just a whole bunch of fun, I say go on and join Extra Mile Runners. Totally addicted to this running group now and you will be too!!!"
Melissa Temple
"For the last ten years the one goal on my bucket list that I've constantly said that I'll do is run a Half Marathon. But until joining RaceTeam this goal has gone unfulfilled with me feeling like a failure and the person that never follows through with anything. Well, not anymore ;-) I never would have achieved this goal without your support and guidance and for this I want to say a huge thanks!!! I've learnt heaps about myself and how I can achieve my goals in the future."
Amanda Polkinghourne
"To be able to run a half marathon was a goal of mine for a while "this year I will finally do it" had been my New Year's resolution. When I stumbled across RaceTeam not only did the support from Bevan, Jo and the coaches make me believe I could do it - but the team environment made me truly enjoy myself, a thought I would have previously believed to be mad!. This journey has taught me a lot about myself and the contentment that comes from doing something that is so challenging, rewarding and good for you!"
John Thompson
How does RaceTeam work?
RaceTeam is a 10 week group training Half Marathon programme. It has helped over 3000 runners achieve their Half Marathon goals, from first timers through to those that are aiming to achieve a personal best or improve their running technique (which goes hand in hand!).
RaceTeam ensures you get the key sessions into your training that you need to be fully prepared for race day including; a tempo session, an interval session and an endurance session. Our runners tell us that the programme enables them to turn up to race day 100% ready, they improve their technique, learn more about the "mind games" around running and make gains with their pace - they learn how to improve their running overall.
Our runners feel good about themselves because they achieve their goal, have made social connections within the team and often say how they find that "spark" of motivation - they are race ready.

+ Plus the whole group has a session on Saturday morning at 7.30am.
The Saturday locations change each week, the meeting point and course map is included in the weekly newsletter we send to you each week of your programme.
+Note: During the programme there are 3 x Saturday sessions that start at 7.00am - these are your longest run sessions so we start you a little earlier
You will get the most out of this programme if you don't miss a session, consistency is key and the programme keeps progressing.
We understand that you might not be able to attend every session so as long as you feel you will be able to get to over 85-90% of the sessions you'll be fine. Plus we'll keep an eye on your attendance and if you miss a few we'll get in contact to check everything is ok.
If you are unsure about scheduling this into your life email us and we'll let you know if we think it can work.
If you have a good base fitness and can run 8-10km+ keep that up until the start of RaceTeam. If you can start some core work and glute/leg strength work - even better. It is also a good idea to get a routine happening with your running as we find that often the hardest bit for some people is to actually get out the door and exercise regularly.
If you don't think you are at this distance yet, check out our other products: Get up to Five or Club10k.

It's a good idea to check the weather forecast the day before the run to make sure you bring the appropriate clothing. We will be training in winter, bring gloves, hats, layers and warm clothes for before and after the sessions.
When we say "appropriate running gear" we mean good running shoes, ideally clothing with breathable fabric and warm clothes for before and after the run.
What if it's raining?
Rain, snow and hail does not stop us! We train in all kinds of weather. In the unlikely event we need to cancel a session due to weather we will email you and if you are unsure check our Facebook page as we will post on this page any cancellation notices too.
Fur Babies and Children
Please don't bring your dogs/children or babies to the sessions, the safety of our runners is top priority and the pathways can get congested. We would hate for someone to trip or fall or hurt themselves and our coaching team want to focus on you!
